“During the course of 2013 my wife and I watched with interest a house being constructed on Premier Road in Waterkloof by MGB Konstruksie. We were very impressed with the quality of the construction work, the cleanliness of the construction site and the speed of progress. We have had some considerable experience with building and watching the development on this project, we were impressed.

During the course of late 2013, early 2014 we purchased a piece of land in Waterkloof and were looking to develop it. Prior to purchasing the land, we made contact with Mike Grobler at MGB Konstruksie to sound him out on our ideas to develop the land and get some idea of costs, time frames, etc.

Having had a couple of meetings with Mike, in which we fine-tuned our ideas, we came away feeling much more comfortable that our project could be done and more importantly within our budget and time frame.

The agreement with MGB was very transparent;
Costs and quotations etc. were laid out in a very detailed format;
On site supervision was always visible and approachable;
Progress payments were made specifically against the quotation which made it very easy to manage from a budgeting perspective;
Any deviations from contract were agreed between ourselves and MGB prior to any changes in the scope of work or material requirements.

We found the advise given to us by MGB, often very practical, useful and always with us as the customer in mind.

Our project came in on slightly ahead of the estimated time frame and within our budget. More importantly we believe that MGB stand by the quality of the workmanship.

“When we eventually decided after 8 years, to renovate our almost 100 year old house in Irene, we were looking for a builder that understood our vision of combining the old historic feeling of the house, with proposed changes supporting the lifestyle of a modern family. “On an overcast day in February 2014 a back-actor started with ground works on an empty stand. The smell of soil and moldy leaves filled the air. The project began and we were highly excited. The following day – midday, the heavens opened and rain started as if a curtain was pulled from above. For two and a half weeks nature placed its stamp on earth and during this period we drove pass a vacant stand and a silent back-actor. As there is a time for everything in life, the heavy rains subsided and once again the MGB team was ready for action. On a daily basis we visited our future “home” and with every single encounter with the MGB team experienced a sentiment of focus and trust. As is the case in all projects there were challenges and difficulties that required attention – such as the extended strike in the metal industry that left many businesses in South Africa in the lurch. Despite the challenges MGB continued in a focused and absolute professional manner to deliver as per the set parameters.

Our personal engagements with the preferred MGB suppliers were positive. In the process we met strangers whom we now consider friends. We had opportunities to celebrate successes with respective sub-contracting teams as the project progressed. The Project Manager (Johan) kept us updated all the time and carried himself with distinct character. On the financial process side it was all systems go and we did not experience a single glitch.

One would think with all the rains and strikes, etc. that a delay in occupation was guaranteed – to the contrary. We took occupation 5 weeks early than initially planned. Taking all things into consideration what more is there to say? We conclude with the following: MGB holds a vision to “build houses that will stand as monuments ….”. In terms of free definition a monument is a structure that is created to celebrate an important event. That is exactly what our new home presents – A monument in a family’s life circle enabling us to celebrate life whilst building memories and legacies.

If ever we have to undertake a building project again we will, without hesitation, contact MGB Construction.
